DIY Clock Decal Kit for Records - Movement, Hands, Clock Face
This kit is everything you need (expect the record which you are to provide) to turn a vinyl Record into a clock
Included in the kit is:
- 1 x 5mm Standard Movement (you can upgrade to a 5mm Silent movement for $1.50)
- 1 x Set 2 hands in White is the default hands, but let us know if you want other hands
- 1 x Vinyl Cut Clock Face - 290mm, you can pick the colour
- The Record is NOT included in this kit
We cut these right here on site on our vinyl plotter!
Please note that as these are printed to order there is a 1-3 working day dispatch time depending on the printers current workload. Please email us before order if you have any concerns regarding this.
Please pick from our currently available colours:
- Black (not recommend for a black vinyl)
- Light Grey
- Chrome Silver (please note this vinyl is $5 extra due to the more expensive vinyl)
First start by preparing the record. The hole in the record is not quite big enough, but just take a sharp knife or scalpel and give the inside of the hole a couple of scraps to widen it, it doesn't take more than a few swipes
Next prepare the vinyl by ensuring the clear top wrap is firmly pressed out and any air bubbles are smoothed out. Peel off the clear top wrap making sure the vinyl comes up with it. Set this aside, sticky side up. Take the white backing sheet and trim it back so is roughly 270mmx270mm. Now place it back where is was, centered on top of the vinyl making sure the glossy non stick side is touching the vinyl. So you will end up where you started, but the while side will now be smaller than the actual vinyl.
Now you can easily place it on the record by lining it up so all 4 points (12,3,6, and 9) are in the right position and equally spaced. Once you are happy press down the 12, then just peel away the white backing paper and smooth down the vinyl. Once the vinyl is down peel off the clear top sheet. If there are any air bubbles you can gently peel the vinyl back up and smooth out.
Remove the gold nut and washer so the movement is left with just the hanger and the black rubber washer. Insert the movement through the prepared record and add the gold washer and nut. Tightly do up the nut.
Had the hands in the 12:00 position - hour, then minute, then second hand. Use the dial at the back to set the time, and add the battery.
Your record clock is now ready to hang and enjoy :)
